Unstable Mech is a Brute-class mech in Into the Breach. ==Team== The mech is available as part of the Hazardous Mechs squad. ==Strategy== The Unstable Mechs weapon will self damage it with every use, and will additionally knock it backwards one tile. If using it outside of the Hazardous Mechs in a Custom Squad, it is recommended to pair it with Pilots such as Mafan or Abe Isamu, or Mechs with destruction prevention equipment such as the Defense Mech or Smog Mech. Note that the self damage is also treated as an attack at the Mech's current tile; thus, it will ignite forest tiles or break ice and cracked tiles that the Mech is currently occupying. The only way to prevent this is if the Unstable Mech is shielded; in which case, the shield will absorb the self-damage to the Mech and tile. The knockback from Unstable Cannon can be useful for getting additional bump damage on enemies behind it, as long as the self-damage and bump damage are mitigated. It can be particularly useful at dealing with Blobber enemies and their Blobs in a single action, using the projectile to hit the Blobber and the knockback damage to destroy the Blob. Additionally, the knockback can be used to fire from unsafe tiles, such as those projecting a Lightning Strike, as the Unstable Cannon will push it back and away from that tile. It's wise to invest on additional movement for the Unstable Mech first, as the knockback moving the Mech backwards can also push it further back away from enemy spawns.
