Strategy[ | ]
Burst Beam is one of the best area of effect damaging weapons in the game; without upgrades, it hits the first target for 3 damage, and continues to pierce targets until it collides with either a structure (a building or a mountain) or runs off the map. Its starting damage allows it to take out any common enemy in the first island, but it is not enough to take down Alpha enemies by itself.
With Ally Immune active, it does not friendly fire on Mechs, trains or tanks (though still hits buildings). With 4 maximum damage, it provides a solution to several Alpha Vek that need high single target damage, where other AOE damaging weapons fail; however, it is most preferable to use it with a pilot that has Boosted damage, as 5 damage is enough to one-shot all Alpha enemies.
The downside of Burst Beam is that it requires more movement points to position, in order to avoid friendly fire on buildings, and it provides no displacement utility.
