Strategy[ | ]
The Pulse Mech's main purpose in the Rusting Hulks is to support its teammates with displacement and protection with shields.
The Shield Self upgrade is a good early unlock, as the Pulse Mech starts with good durability and movement to not require upgrades on those immediately. With Shield Self, this allows the Pulse Mech to activate a shield whenever it uses Repulse, even if there's no targets adjacent to push. The shield can be used to block enemy spawn points without taking damage throughout an entire battle, or to let it survive an otherwise fatal attack from an Alpha enemy.
Shields are also useful in conjunction with a freezing weapon (such as Ice Generator) to avoid being frozen; this can become more advantageous for the entire squad when the Shield Friendly upgrade is unlocked. The Shield Friendly upgrade will also protect adjacent buildings with a shield, so this upgrade can also allow the Pulse Mech to neutralize enemy attacks that would otherwise be out of its range to push.
To get the most out of the multi-push, pilots that offer mobility and positioning benefits are recommended for the Pulse Mech.
