Into the Breach Wiki

The Cryo Launcher is an excellent tool in the fight against the Vek, but it takes an experienced Pilot to master.

The Frozen Titans is one of the Squads from Into The Breach. They consist of the Aegis Mech, Mirror Mech and Ice Mech and are unlockable for 3 coins.

As their name suggests, the main gimmick of the Frozen Titans is having the ability to freeze enemies using the Ice Mech's Cryo-Launcher. This must be used effectively to neutralise threats that the other two mechs' very low damage cannot cover.

Strategies[ | ]

  • In general, try to turn the Ice Mech's self-freeze drawback into an advantage. Position the mech to block Vek attacks or emerging Vek, so that it both prevents the damage and cracks the freeze.
  • Get the Aegis Mech's shield upgrade as soon as possible. Gaining a shield after every attack gives the mech a huge advantage and allows you to use it to block Vek emergence, deal risk-free knockback damage, and protect buildings from the Janus Cannon's reverse fire without expending the Ice Mech's action.
  • The Mirror Mech's attack can be positioned so that it unfreezes the Ice Mech and attacks a target simultaneously.
  • The best objectives to take with the Frozen Titans are defensive focused ones, such as Defend the Train and Do not Kill the Volatile Vek. Freezing the train not only serves as a shield but also prevents the train from moving and ramming into obstacles without failing the objective. The Volatile Vek can be frozen and ignored.
    • Conversely, the worst objective is getting 7 kills, as the squad has very little starting firepower to do so and will end up with lots of grid damage. The Cryo-Launcher actively inhibits achieving this objective.
    • If advanced missions are on, missions that involve getting 4/5/6 or fewer kills (difficulty dependent) are the best as the Cryo-Launcher can just freeze Vek without killing.
  • This squad has very limited knockback ability. Investing in a weapon like Boosters adds a lot of flexibility.
  • Satellites won't launch if they're frozen.
  • Any flying unit (vek or mech) getting frozen above a chasm will fall and die.
  • Shielded mechs do not get frozen, even from the Cryo-Launcher. This means that Mafan on the Ice Mech is the best starting pilot for this squad, with Bethany Jones or Adam as alternatives if no secret pilots have been unlocked.
    • Pilots with shields are also valuable to find, as they can be placed on the Mirror Mech if one of them is already piloting the Ice Mech. Combined with the Aegis Mech's shield upgrade, the entire team can be shielded and immune to freezing, which is particularly powerful with the Ice Generator. Taking advantage of this combination requires a degree of luck though, as the pilots and equipment have to be found during a given playthrough.
  • Other valuable pilots to look for include:
    • Kazaaakpleth: Adds more killing power to the squad and gives more options for pushing. Harold Schmidt can be used alternatively but without damage.
    • Rosie Rivets: Automatically frees a frozen mech when repairing on movement. Useful for reviving a downed Mafan-piloted mech.
    • Silica: Double shots with Mirror Mech's Janus Cannon can provide a lot of much needed damage output. Can also work on the Ice Mech to shoot and then repair the freeze.
    • Henry Kwan and Prospero: valuable for the Aegis and Mirror Mech to help them move past frozen enemies.
